It’s now been confirmed by multiple sources that we’ve locked up Felix long-term.
No more July rumors, no more wondering, no more Red Sox rants and lots more smiling Felix! Zduriencik has now done everything I “demanded” of him this offseason:
We’ve acquired a premier pitcher to sit behind Felix.
We’ve signed Felix long-term.
We’ve signed a defensive-minded slugger to play the left side of the infield, even if it was Figgins and not Beltre.
We re-signed Griffey.
And let’s not forget what he did that I didn’t ask for:
He locked up Gutierrez (one of the best defensive outfielders in baseball history) long-term.
He signed Figgins long-term while he was at it.
He nabbed lots of pointless minor leaguers, some with a decent upside.
He dumped Silva’s contract for Bradley, which has a much better chance of panning out.
Wow!
Offense:
1B – Casey Kotchman
2B – Jose Lopez
SS – Jack Wilson
3B – Chone Figgins
LF – Bradley (part-time)
CF – Franklin Gutierrez
RF – Ichiro!
DH – Griffey (part-time)
Seriously? Wow. And for those who keep complaining that we didn’t get any “pop,” just wait until you see what this type of team can do! Granted, I’m still concerned about catcher, but we’ll just see what happens. Plus, this offseason ain’t over yet!
